Barbara Conner-Reed is a native of Washington State. She has been painting and working in the art field for the past 15 years. Prior to that, she was busy raising four sons. Now she is retired to Okanogan, WA, where she has a new studio and much inspiration from her beautiful new surroundings. Barbara is basically self-tught, although she has attended workshops by Dorisjean Colvin PSA, Ned Mueller, Fred Oldfield and Judy Sleight. She is a certified member of NLAPW, EAFA, NWAA, NWPS and the Okanogan County Art Assoc. Barbara does abstract and impressionistic work as well as the realism she has done the last few years. She is exploring a new pastel technique using a sanded paper and alcohol or turpenoid as melting and blending agents. This enables her to produce brilliant deep colors, not normally seen when using pastels. Her abstract work is done with liquid watercolor and acrylics. Barbara does Western and Wildlife shows throughout Washington, Oregon and Idaho and enters many juried shows throughout those areas. Her work is included in a coffee table art book of Northwest Artists' and is available from her either in person or through her web site. For additional information on this book, please contact her at (509) 422-9774. Viewings at her studio are by invitation or appointment only. |
